At Creek Street Christian College our Junior School includes Prep to Year 4 classes. We have one class at each year level; there are no composite classes.
Each class has a homeroom teacher and then specialist teachers for Music, Art, French and Physical Education.
The mornings are focused on Literacy and Numeracy with each day commencing with Devotions which include Bible teaching and prayer. Key areas of Literacy include: Grammar, Reading, Creative Writing, Speaking and Listening, Handwriting and Spelling (from Year 1).
A variety of teaching activities are included each day to maintain student interest and engagement, however, there is a genuine commitment to quiet, ordered classrooms where learning is paramount.
Parents are kept fully informed of the progress of their children through the use of Interim and Semester Reports throughout the year. Junior students also bring a Record Folder home twice a term which includes work samples and revision exercises.
During the afternoon session students study History and Geography, Health, Science, Library and French all based on the Australian Curriculum.
Year 4 students have opportunity to lead the Junior School in a variety of ways and particularly as House Captains or Vice House Captains and by leading a Junior Assembly.
Our aim is to give each of these young people a strong learning foundation on which to base the remainder of their education.
